The ring was filled with a host of fiery fighters, each with their own unique style and ambition. Among these passionate athletes were several promising talents who had the potential to break through. A notable feature of this edition of FIGHT NIGHT was the strong presence of female kickboxers. These powerful women showed that they are an indispensable part of the martial arts world and brought a dynamic energy to the event. Their courage and technical skills were received with loud applause.

A special moment of the evening was the participation of Chella Strijkert, the daughter of legendary referee Edward Strijkert. With her father being an icon in the sport, Chella followed in her family’s footsteps and entered the ring in the N class. In addition to the N class, there were also many C class matches, where fighters were already more experienced and technique was more refined. The evening culminated in two exciting B-class matches and one high-profile A-class bout. In the A-class, fighter Gabriel Sousa, filling in for the Verheye team, stood out for his fearlessness. Despite no preparation due to last minute submissions, he unfortunately failed to pull off the victory and lost narrowly. Nevertheless, he delivered an impressive performance in a match that was full of tension and technical finesse. It was a testament to his dedication and sportsmanship.

Moreover, a new rule has been implemented that prohibits bringing a country’s flag during a fighter’s appearance. This adjustment aims to put the focus entirely on the sporting performance and emphasise the individual fighter, regardless of political or nationalistic displays. This contributes to a neutral and respectful atmosphere within the sport, where performance and sportsmanship are key.

All in all, FIGHT NIGHT at Quinn Gym was a great night filled with passion, talent and sportsmanship. The event confirmed the growing popularity of kickboxing in the Netherlands and showed that there is a new generation of promising fighters ready to conquer the ring. The perfect organisation, the commitment of the referees and the energy of the fighters and the audience made this edition a resounding success and bodes well for future events.
