KnockoutNews headed to Bruges for an exclusive visit to K1 Team Bruges, where passion, discipline and top-class sport come together on a daily basis. In the gym, KnockoutNews were welcomed by head trainer Sonny Dagraed, a former world champion who today passes on his experience and knowledge to the next generation of fighters.

During the visit, we got a behind-the-scenes look at how the team operates and spoke at length with some of the talented fighters the club boasts. Among them Sohrab Malekzada, a driven fighter who continues to grow step by step within kickboxing. Patrick Mendoza, known for his explosive style and strong mentality, also spoke about his ambitions and the road he is taking with the team. Also speaking was Kobe Degraeve, a talent who is working hard to develop further in the world of competition.

Trainer Sonny Dagraed emphasised during the interview that K1 Team Brugge is more than just a kickboxing club. It is a close-knit group where respect, discipline and mutual support are key. The trainer looks confidently to the future and sees a lot of potential within his competition team.

Not all the fighters were present during our visit. Several athletes were currently enjoying a well-earned rest between their matches. Nevertheless, Sonny revealed that the club still has several strong names in its ranks. One of the most notable fighters within the team is undoubtedly Rostam Malekzada, who is considered by many to be one of the gym’s important signposts.

K1 Team Brugge, meanwhile, continues to build on its reputation within the Belgian kickboxing world. With an experienced trainer at the helm and a group of ambitious fighters, the team’s future seems particularly promising.
